Embroiderers' Guild of America: Where Needle Art Lives

The Channel Islands Chapter is part of the Embroiderers' Guild of America, a 501(c)3 organization. The mission of the EGA is to inspire passion for the needle arts through education and the celebration of its heritage. The EGA provides numerous educational opportunities through national and regional seminars, group and individual correspondence courses and free projects including those on its Stitch A Long Facebook page. EGA's quarterly magazine, NeedleArts, showcases world class Needle Artists and provides members free projects in numerous fields of embroidery. The EGA is composed of 13 regions and 272 chapters as well as Members at Large who join at the national level. The Channel Islands Chapter of the EGA was formed in January of 1983 and is part of the Pacific Southwestern Region. We have programs at our monthly meetings and workshops to introduce members to the many different embroidery techniques, including stumpwork, goldwork, brazilian embroidery, cross stitch, needlepoint, hardanger, cutwork, blackwork, pulled thread, punchneedle, battenberg lace and huckweaving. Community outreach is also important to us. In addition to demonstrating needlework at the Ventura County Fair and the Scandinavian Days Festival, we support St. John's Hospital's Healthy Beginnings program and the collection and distribution of embroidery kits to recovering veterans.

We have a General Meeting from 9:30AM to 12 noon on the fourth Wednesday of every month except for November and December. We meet at the Camarillo United Methodist Church on Anacapa Drive off of Las Posas. We stitch at members homes alternating on the 2nd Saturday or 2nd Friday of the month in what we call MiniGroups. Attend a meeting and see what we are all about. You can attend two meetings before we ask that you decide on membership. Membership is only $62 for a year that runs from June 1 to May 31.
